Compare And Contrast Wrestling And Boxing

Wrestling and Boxing are two contact sports that have different ways of making contact, rules and have similar setups for their competitions In both Wrestling and Boxing physical contact between the opponents is made. In wrestling contact is made by using your bodyweight to maneuver your opponent where you need them to be. In boxing on the other hand contact is made with the force of a fist inside a padded glove. Although both sports have different types of contact each is made very specific to each sport In order to win in either wrestling or boxing you must show superior skill over your opponent. In wrestling, you can pin your opponent, shoulder blades to the mat for 10 count, or earn points for takedowns, reversals or back points. Boxing in a similar way, can be won by knocking your opponent out, on the mat for a 10 count, or by points earned for typed and effective punches thrown. The goal in both sports is to show your skills are better than that of your opponent …show more content…
In wrestling there are two setups, a mat with a marked area for wrestling or a ring with ropes around it to mark the boundaries. In boxing there are also two set ups, the ring with ropes around it for boundaries or a matted area on the floor with no markings or ropes. In both wrestling and boxing the setups are specific for the type of contact being made. It is quite evident that both wrestling and boxing are similar in set-up, wining and contact.
