Compare And Contrast Where The Red Fern Grows

In this essay I will talk about the movie/ book Where the Red Fern Grows. I will talk about the similarities of both. Also the differences between the book/ movie. This book was very motivational and at the same very sad. And I will describe the book and the movie. First of all I will talk about the book. The first that happens is Billy saw an advertisement and sees people are selling coon-hound pups. He has always wanted coon- hound pups so he started to work to get enough money to buy them. The next big event is he gets the pups and starts to raise them. Then the two Pritchard boys challenge Old Dan and Little Ann(the coon pups) to try to catch an old coon they call “the ghost coon” , they accept and they also bet 2 dollars. While they were trying to catch the Ghost coon they all got into a fight. So unfortunately, the pritchard boy, Rubin, falls on Billy’s axe. Next Billy’s grandpa sees this competition for the dos and asks if he wants to enter them, he agrees. Before the competition Billy entered Little Ann in a beauty competition and she won a silver cup. The first similarity is he still gets two dogs and names them Dan and Ann. Another is the Pritchard boy still dies. One more is they still catch the ghost coon in both the movie and the book. Next is they still go to the competition. Lastly is Little Ann and Old Dan still sadly die. Now I will talk about the differences. The first difference is when he goes to Tahlequah he gets into a fight in the movie. Next in the movie he sees a mountain lion when he takes the pups home in the movie. Another is when the the Pritchard boy dies Billy sees him first not Raine like in the movie. One more is in the book at the competition the dogs stay at the tree to get the coon while Billy goes on. Lastly is Little Ann is more hurt when they fight the mountain lion than in the movie. Those were the differences and
