Both Wes Moores are products of their environments because there were certain times while they were both growing up where they let the dangerous factors define and shape their personality and actions. One example includes when the author started skipping school because he was struggling in it. He felt as though he couldn't learn correctly and that his learning disability was getting the best of him; so he he simply didn't go. “What she didn’t know was that my problem in school was much more basic than a learning disability. T problem was that I wasn’t even showing up half the time.” (Pg. 76). Another example includes when Wes had no courage in his job anymore, so he turned back to selling drugs. He didn’t think that his job was making him grow, or making him money, so he turned to the one spot where he was almost guaranteed to make money. “He went by his old West Baltimore neighborhood to pick up a package.
