Wabash or Miami

The Wabash County Jail was built in 1979 while the Miami County Jail was built in 2009. While both have many similarities, they also have their differences. The Wabash County Jail and the Miami County Jail are different in these three things visitations, recreation, and housing.

First of all the Wabash County Jail and the Miami County Jail differ from each other in visitation because the Wabash County Jail has 4 visitation areas, while the Miami County has 7.The differences in this is that Wabash County Jail’s visitations is enclosed and has a door that closes to give you privacy. While the Miami County Jail there is no enclosed area, so you have no privacy everything, you said will be heard from the person sitting next to you. Wabash County Jail’s visitations are way different from Miami County Jail, because the Wabash County Jail has a glass window dividing the inmate and the person. While the Miami County Jail there is a camera where the inmate looks into and speaks While looking at the monitor to see who came and visit them.

The Wabash County Jail can hold 74 inmates and is currently holding 84 and 36 of our inmates is over at Miami County Jail and we are currently paying them 35 dollars for each inmate. Miami County Jail can hold 240 inmates and is currently housing 115 inmates the reason for it is that Miami County Jail is newer while the Wabash County Jail is older. While my class and I visiting both jails I notice that the Wabash County Jail was too small to house their inmates and that’s why they sent them to Miami County Jail because of how big Miami’s Jail was. If Miami County Jail combines with Wabash County Jail then there would be more workers for both facilities then there would not be an over crowed
