I like the idea of having a kosher diet, straying away from shellfish, pork, and birds of prey, because sacrificing some of those things for God is really powerful to me. Also the fact that Judaism doesn’t believe in original sin, because humans are born into sin and it is inevitable that we will sin, is very appealing to me. I think that that is very understanding and some religions don’t have that same compassion for humans and the belief in sin. Although Buddhism has a lot of elements that I enjoy, it also seems to have a lot of mental challenges for their believers such as the Eightfold Path which includes Right Mindfulness, Right Concentration, Right Occupation, etc. Things like this do not appeal to me because I believe that our religion or spirituality should be easy. We are human, and we will make mistakes and I don’t believe that we should try to be perfect because we never will be.
