Benedick And Beatrice In Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing

Much Ado About Nothing, written by William Shakespeare, takes place in Messina, Italy in the 16th century. The story ends with a romantic ending, but characters go through shame and honor throughout the story. In Much Ado About Nothing, two couples are put through some very difficult situations, showing us that they have their similarities, but they also have a lot of differences.

Benedick and Beatrice are independent. Both want to live lives as single to avoid getting hurt or wounded by the other gender. That is why other characters are trying to get Beatrice and Benedick together. Ursula rumors, “But are you sure, that Benedick loves Beatrice so entirely?”(3.1.38) Ursula tells these rumours to other people so that Beatrice thinks that Benedick loves her. They’re also always making fun of eachother in a friendly way. As for Hero and Claudio their relationship is driven a lot by other people, like Leonato and Don Pedro so they don’t get time to get to know each other. Basically the relationships for both couples started with other people coming in to interrupt and help them. If Claudio and Hero never starting talking about Benedick to Beatrice they wouldn't have known each other as well. For Hero and Claudio, Leonato and Don Pedro interrupted their relationship. Because of the communication, both couples achieved to begin trusting one another a little more than they first met. The level of trust between the characters are different for each couple. For Bendick and Beatrice they don’t admit that they trust each other. You will expect Hero and Claudio to have more trust than the other couple because they show love. Truthfully, Hero and Claudio's trust is very thin because they don't have a background like Beatrice and
