Tom And Huck, Contrast Essay Day 31 Writing.

Starting Out

In the beginning both boys were orphans, but Tom was blessed with a loving Grandmother called Aunt Polly. Tom had a wild spirit for adventure, whether it be digging for treasure, playing Indians, going fishing, swimming ect Huck was almost always right in the lead. All of the boy’s liked Huck, the even envied him, after all he smoked a pipe, did whatever he wanted, whenever, with no mother or father telling you two “ clean behind your ears” or “ go milk the cows”

Superstition.

Both boy’s were very superstitious. In those days curing warts with dead cat’s were a thing and Tom and Huck weren’t going to be left out of it.

Also, all the children know that you should never ever walk through a graveyard at night lest satan and his demons find you and catch you, or;
Tom was definitely a lot more braver than Huck with those kind of things. Noth boys don’t seem to have really any connection “ themselves” with God, although Aunt Polly has some sort of relationship.. Here an there when Tom does something wrong, he thinks he will get punished by “ God’s horrible wrath of lightning” or other.

Love

Tom with his misheff and his wild imagination, does find love at school with a girl named Becky, he taught her how to draw, on the other hand Huck doesn’t want to have anything to do with getting married and such nonsense, though I think he is just doesn’t know what to think or do with girls.

What They Think Of Each Other
As I said earlier Tom, like all the other boys both envy and want to be like Huck because of his freedom. On the contrary, Huck envies Tom seeing he is more “likable” a respectable citizen among the village and he goes to school and church, also Tom has people who care about him like his Aunt Polly for instance, unlike Huck’s who really only has his drunkard for a father, which is quite

    Well to compare Huck to myself, we both have characteristics that are the same. Huck likes adventure/nature. He likes to explore and loves being in nature. I like to be outside a lot I believe that it gives you a freedom when you feel the air and the trees are just wonderful and seeing the blue sky it just gives you a relief. Another reason is that Huck doesn’t want to wear nice clothes and neither do I. Huck also at first didn’t like to go to school but then he liked to going to school after a while.…

Huck at the beginning treats Jim as property, however as their relationship evolves, he begins to treat him as an equal and a friend. Huck, a naïve and unruly young boy, transforms into a noble character of generosity and kindness, ultimately living up to his moral promise. Although Huck himself chooses to help Jim, he is baffled when Tom, a "well brung up" person chooses to help him. This reveals Huck 's unsurety of his own decision, still perceiving it as a crime that requires the greatest punishment, eternal damnation. We see this when Huck questions Tom’s decision to help him, "Here was a boy that was respectable, and well brung up; and had a character to lose; and folks at home that had characters; and he was bright and not leatherheaded; and knowing, and not ignorant; and not mean, but kind; and yet here he was, without any more pride, or rightness, or feeling, than to stoop to this business, and make himself a shame and his family a shame, before everybody.…
