After the U.S. dropped the first atomic bomb on Japan during World War Two, the Soviet Union declared war on Japan. Soviet troops invaded cities in Japan and its colony, Korea. The attacks were successful, Japan’s surrender in Korea was accepted, and Japan’s complete surrender ended World War Two. After the war, Korea was split at the 38th parallel to create a North and South Korea.
