Compare And Contrast The Three Sociological Perspective

Of the three sociological perspectives , I chose the functionalist perspective. Although this perspective looks at society as a whole on a maco level, it does not try to clearly define which group of people is right or wrong or determine which characteristics are good or bad. This paradigm plainly describes what exist in that society. It is left up to those members to decide what is ethical and what is not.
Now according to Functionalist and referring to this weeks powerpoint, their major function is to stress the importance of different groups of people coexisting and working together to “create a stable society”. The school system is often seen as a mini society that is meant to educate and socialize children in conjunction with their families. Manifest is intended whereas latent is the opposite. The video used education as an example. Education is extremely important is this society. The manifest is that school is supposed to educate and socialize children. Its opposite, the latent, combining race and ethnicity can bring on the offset of poor education, poor resources, and a poorly developed group of ppl who do not have the means to compete for the high paying desired jobs. Therefor, leaving the low skilled, low paying, poor condition jobs to the minorities. These jobs often do not include access to health care to those individuals and their families. Highly favored resources, in fact benefit the dominant groups. The latent function within our education system becomes a social dysfunction for those future children.
