Three dating rules that we feel emphasize mutual respect and responsibility are open communication, honesty, and compromise. Each of these rules fosters a healthy relationship in different ways. For example, communication allows for a free flow of thoughts from both people, to prevent conflict. It also allows each person to show how they feel and what they are thinking, good and bad. Honesty is important because, in order to maintain a healthy relationship, a couple must be truthful with each other and should never lie to each other.
