One of the three branches is the Legislative Branch. This branch is the one who write the laws. This branch is also known as congress. The congress is made up of two houses; The Senate and The House of Representative. In the Senate there is 100 elected senates. There can only be two senators per state and each senator and serve up to 6 years of term. On the other hand the House of Representative is much bigger. In this branch is the President, Vice President, and the Cabinet. The President is head of state, and the U.S. government. Also the president is commander-in-chief of the U.S. military. The Vice President is presiding officer of the state. Then there is the Cabinet. The Cabinet is nominated by the President and must be approved by the senate with at least 51 votes. With this much power comes great responsibility. Which is why the Executive Branch is given the power to veto a law that the Legislative branch gives to the President. In fact this power when into action in 1971 when President Nixon vetoed the bipartisan Comprehensive Child Development Act. Also in 1792 George Washington vetoed a bill that introduced a new plan for dividing seats in the House of Representative. However even though the President can veto laws that the Legislative Branch give them, the Legislative branch can override the veto that the president gave. This branch has the supreme court part of it, which make this branch the branch that carries out the laws. The Supreme court is the highest court in the country with nine justices that are nominated by the president, but must also be approved by the senate with at least 51 votes. There is also the other Federal Courts. These courts are lower in power that were not created by the constitution. Beside all this glory of having the highest court in the country this branch comes with very few abilities to check on the other two branches. Regarding this the Judicial branch is able to declare the executive actions unconstitutional. For example in December 2014 a federal court in Pennsylvania declared the actions of President Obama on the immigration policy unconstitutional. However the Executive branch appoints the judges.
