People of the Renaissance started to become secular. To be secular is to have no spiritual or religious basis, which is why it was profound for people to be practicing secularism. This led to the distinct recognition of human thought, and the separation of their thought from faith. Humanism also encouraged individualism and freedom of expression.
During this time, many people began to experiment with the world around them. It was the beginning of the scientific revolution.
