The Red Pony: Comparing and Contrasting I am currently reading a novel called “The Red Pony,” and I think it is a very intriguing book.
When I finished the first chapter,”The Gift” I was appalled by what I had read. You see, in the first chapter, the seemingly most important character was killed off. It was the red pony itself. For a while I contemplated and thought, why did Steinbeck do that? A little while later I realized that the story isn’t about the red pony. The story is about Jody and how he matures leading up to and following the death of Gabilan.
