The reality of the American dream almost always falls short of the unrealistic dreams people make as children. Some would say that the American Dream is the ability to buy and own a home, but the dream is really more than materialistic things. It consists of pride, ownership, and the ability to live in freedom. Some dreams people take for granted; such as shelter, money to provide for family, and happiness. The American Dream takes various forms through all walks of people. Therefore the general idea, in most people’s thoughts, forms through prosperity and happiness. Making the American Dream into reality can be very tedious and difficult to do, but Americans put everything on the table for a chance at achieving their individual goals. Some may want to leave behind a legacy of some kind based on their individualism, whether it be in sports, business, or family.

But everyone’s dreams are different, and so are everyone’s standards, some may just want to keep a roof over their children heads and others may strive to live in a mansion. Both ideas are still dreams that people work for, yet everyday someone is judged about their lack of ambition or not dreaming big enough. In reality the dreams that they create may be what brings them happiness or what brings them peace.
