There are many differences and similarities in the short story and the movie “The ransom of red chief.” In the short story one of the differences was the most obvious. It was in the movie Red Chief drove the car and in the short story he did not. A similarity would be whenever Johnny scalped bill at day break in the short story as he did in the movie. Lastly, another similarity is the ransom amount at 15,000 dollars was the same amount in the book and the film. Secondly, there were many more differences. Another difference would be in the beginning of the short story Johnny was throwing rocks at the cat yet in the film he was blowing up the mailbox. Another difference would be that Johnny put a snake in Bills bed, but he did not do that
