Compare And Contrast The Legislative Branch And The Executive Branch

The Legislative Branch and the Executive Branch are both part of the three branches that where put into place to separate power. Also known as separation of powers. Both of these branches has specific powers that they can each do. The Legislative Branch is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Both the House of Representatives and the Senate make up the Congress. The House of Representatives have specific powers assigned just for them. Some of these powers are if there is a tie within the Electoral College for President the House can pick the President and the House also has the power to impeach (throw out of office) any federal official. Both also have very important powers as well. Even though both these branches are supposed to have equal power they do not. Today, the Executive Branch holds more power than the Legislative branch. Since the Executive Branch is made up of the President he at any given time can use military force without the permission of Congress. As time goes on we see more and more of the president gaining more power to do things. He has many powers that trumps what the Congress can do. One may not have more powers than the other, but it boils down to the definition of that power and how much power that one thing can do. In conclusion, even though separation of powers has been put into place by the Constitution the powers its self are not equal. Both the legislative Branch and the Executive Branch have powers. Neither of the two have more powers than the other. However, the powers of the Executive Branch have more “force” than the Legislative Branch does. In better words the powers that the Executive Branch have are held at a higher slandered than what the Legislative Branch powers are. Both of these branches have important powers, but one can do more damage or good than the other one
