According to the Random House Dictonary, The Law Code of Hammurabi is, "a Babylonian legal code of the 18th century BC or earlier, instituted by Hammurabi and dealing with criminal and civil matters." The Law Code of Hammurabi was written by the King himself in about 1800 BC. King Hammurabi believed that the gods chose him to bring justice and order to the people. Not long after he gained the title of King, he created his Code as a “gift of a king to his people”. There were 282 laws made to outline all relationships and the way of life in His kingdom.
