The devil's arithmetic is a very interesting story about the deadly holocaust times. Both the book and the movie are good examples of what happened to the Jews. They help younger kids learn about it and helps the world never forget. They are some key differences and similarities that help define the story overall. The book starts off with Hannah complaining that she has to go to seder dinner with her relatives. When she gets there she tries to escape anyway she can so she goes into the kitchen. A little later she sees her grandpa enraged at the tv. She later finds out that they were playing videos of the holocaust. She is transported into the past when she opens the door for Elijah. When she gets there they are preparing for Shmuel and Fayges
