The conservatism of George H.W. Bush came from similar ideological roots as Ronald Reagan, but was different when it came to execution, particularly in domestic policy. The most noticeable similarities come in foreign policy. Both presidents believed that America must take a leading role and intervene to protect American interests. For Bush, he demonstrated with Operation Desert Storm where he launched, “Massive bombing of Iraqi portions of Kuwait, as well as Baghdad and other Iraqi cities. The ground war, which began on February 24, took only 100 hours to force Saddam Hussein's troops out of Kuwait” (Faragher 911).
