The Cold War & the Evil Empire The cold war was a time when there was a conflict of the United States of America and The Soviet Union. It was a war that was basically underground and was a time when President Ronald Reagan was pushing buttons with Russian leader Joseph Stalin. The cold war basically was after the World War II. Things had started to get tenser between America and the Soviet Union. America was just starting to get into another dilemma and a war that was basically against two powerful countries. But during the cold war it also led to the Vietnam War which was a horrible time and a crazy war. Kennedy before his inauguration he was on a mission to over throw the Cuban leader Castro and lead to a non-communist government friendly environment. But 1’400 exiles landed on the Cuba Bay of Pigs and they were killed or captured. But President Kennedy took full responsibility for this. The Cuban missile crisis had also happened during the cold war. It was when Russia was building missiles to attack on Cuba or in other terms to test them out on them. It shifted from a bipolar world order to a very UN bipolar one with the United States at the helm. This in turn greatly enhanced the prestige and appeal of democracy.
