As vast as the Roman Empire was it would have never survived if it wasn’t for the trade network. It was a way to connect the larger cities in Italy to the furthest provinces in Mesopotamia. In a way, the trade that went on across the empire served as a way to bring every culture together in a similar way that the cultures blend in America today. Instead of being a part of a conquered nation the people in the provinces were a new part of the Roman Empire, they had access to what the people in major cities did, were able to sell their goods throughout the empire, and be a part of something larger.
