The 5 Systems of the Human Body
The human body is a fascinating thing. It is made up of 5 key component systems that keep the human body working as efficiently and smoothly as possible. These 5 systems are the respiratory system, circulatory system, reproductive system, nervous system, and the digestive system.
The Respiratory System is the system in the human body that allows us breathe properly and efficiently. The system is split into two main components; the upper respiratory tract and the lower respiratory tract.
The upper respiratory tract includes the nose, mouth and the beginning of the trachea. The nose is one of the key components for inhalation and exhalation. The mouth in the respiratory system also contributes to breathing properly and functionally. The act of breathing has two stages: inhalation and exhalation. Inhalation is the intake of air into the lungs which causes expansion of the chest in volume. Exhalation is the expulsion of air from the lungs which causes the chest to contract and as a result, volume is lost (Respiratory System.) The …show more content…
The 3 primary functions of the spinal cord are: to serve as a conduit for information, sensory and motor, and to serve as a center for coordinating certain reflexes. The spinal cord reaches from the bottom of your brain to the top of your lower back. It is generally around 45 centimeters long (18 inches) in men and 43 centimeters (17 inches) in women.
The digestive system is a group of organs working together to convert food into energy and basic nutrients to feed the entire body. It contains the mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and the large intestine. There are 6 main processes that occur in the digestive system: ingestion, secretion, mixing/moving, digestion, absorption, and excretion
