The speakers claim is basically that you do not need to text and driver because it can be dangerous. Audience understands because the emotion the author uses.

It is speaking from a 3rd person point of view. For example “I miss her smile. She had an amazing smile.” We know its third person because she refers to herself as I and says she a lot. Being told from third person point of view has really helped me connect emotionally.
"You've got to stop this. You're going to have a wreck if you continue to do this." This text is showing to not text and drive or something dangerous can happen. The audience is understanding that it really can happen to anyone.

And I said, "I want to know if she was texting and driving."
