In the same way is the happiness of an entire community sometimes outweighs the misery of an individual. The city is a utopia for the citizens that live there, however one must suffer for everyone to maintain the happiness. The whole theme is the individual versus society. The people of Omelas knowingly leaves the child to suffer, fear so that they may be happy. On the contrary, “Spring Day” has a theme that has shown one leaving their youth. For example, making the first move to change despite how painful or hurtful it may be; continuing or wishing to freeze time so that they may live in the past; and the loneliness one feels as friends change and one doesn’t.
