“Where they differed was that while the Spartans had militaristic values, Athenians were democratic,” states Mr.Duckworth in the article “Athens and Sparta”.This gives people ideas such as to live in one. They might like to live in Sparta or Athens. Athen would have been a better place to live because Athenian boys didn’t have to join the military, Athens could get a good education, and Athen is the birthplace of democracy. Athenian boys were allowed to join the military or not. “Unlike Sparta, in Athens, boys were not forced to join the military,” states Mr.Duckworth. This shows that boys have time to spend with their family. They could have different jobs. They could meet friends.
