There will be many timeouts and commercial breaks, as well as referees trying to determining if there was an infraction on the play. All of these breaks give the fans time to go to the restroom or go to the concession stand for for a beverage or some food. One reason why Americans like those two sports better than soccer would be because in the game of soccer, the game clock never stops. They continue to play during the forty-five minute halves with only a fifteen minute break at halftime. Americans do not care for this because do not have time to get a drink or anything without missing some of the game. With the other sports though, there are breaks constantly; which makes most Americans not partake in watching

If American soccer could acquire one of these superstars, then there would be an increase in the number of viewers of the game. These were just a few of the points that could be used to justify the reasons of how soccer could become more popular.
Some people, however, would object to the whole idea of making soccer another major sport in America. They would argue that America already has their own sports (i.e. baseball, basketball, and football) and that America does not need to conform another sport to the “American” style. They would propose that soccer needs to just stay in Europe and the other soccer loving continents and for America to just stick with their sports. In response to these objections, America does have their own sports but adding soccer to the mix would not harm anything. In order for soccer to become more popular in America then it does need to have an element of not being just a foreign sport but one that Americans can enjoy too. If soccer were to become more popular and were able to grow to the state of soccer in Europe, then America could then compete on a world level and gain respect throughout the
