But, it is far easier to let humanity slip into feelings of hatred, feelings that one type of person is better than another. Rather than thinking as us a species as a whole, it's easy to think of us as divided, with different races and cultures. People have different viewpoints on how they perceive the universe, how they see each other. While this is inherently true, it can sometimes lead to devastating events. As soon as one believes they are better than someone else, or they are unequal to them, their mindset turns to one of negativity. How humans are capable of things far greater than they are able to imagine. However, after reading Night, I saw the other end of the spectrum. I don't think I will ever truly be able to begin to fully-understand and comprehend the extent of the the Holocaust. While this event is one of the lowest points for humanity, it should never be forgotten. The millions of innocent lives lost should never be forgotten. The treatment of the Jewish people during the war should never be forgotten. And most importantly, it should never be forgotten that while this may have been one of the worst periods for human treatment of one another, rays of positivity were still able to shine through. For some, hope was not lost because of individuals who did more than they ever thought they could
