Compare And Contrast Separation Of Powers And Federal Government

Federalism, Checks and Balances, and Separation of powers are the same in the way that they all involve separation of powers. There is a division between Federal government and State government, which was one of Montesquieu’s beliefs that the government should be divided. Montesquieu wanted the government to be divided so that one branch wouldn’t have too much power, which is a very good belief. Federal government is in charge of currency, regulating commerce, national defense and foreign affairs. Executive Branch, which is led by the President, is in charge of carrying out laws. House of Representatives is based on population in each state and serves for 2 years, the Senate is chosen by legislatives to serve for 6 years.
