Religion in America
In December of the year 1620, the first settlers arrived in America they came here to find a new life. The pilgrims had to sacrifice everything in their new life and some even died. In “OF Plymouth Plantation” and “The Scarlet Letter” the authors show how all the people feel like back then how they sacrificed their life to seek religious freedom.I believe that both of the stories have some sort of religion involvement or wanted to escape a religion path.According to the The Scarlet Letter say that “The Judgement of strict,mean spirited townspeople”
In the text “Of Plymouth Plantation’’ by WIlliam Bradford the author, demonstrates why the pilgrims were seeking religious freedom from England. Bradford writes,’’being thus arrived in a good harbor and brought safe to land,they fell upon their knees and blessed the God of heaven who had brought them over the vast and ocean” (Bradford 2). This show the readers that the pilgrims were happy to reach land and they thank their god for giving them to started a new life. These idea reflect the theme of the sacrifice they made to seek religious freedom. …show more content…
Hawthorne writes,’’As befitted a people among who religion and law were almost identical, and whose character both were thoroughly interfused’’(Hawthorne 1). This show the readers that people they are not belief in religious and law that their join together. These idea reflect the theme of the how people were disciplined in public for their actions. Additionally,’’It would be greatl for the public behoof if we women,being of mature age and church-members in good repute,should have the handling of such malefactress as this hester prynne’’(Hawthorne 2).
