Have you ever visited the cities of Rome or Washington, DC? Even though Washington, DC, and Rome are major capital cities of their countries in the world, they have many differences along with their similarities. They have vastly different histories, cultural aspects, and racial demographics, but they remain similar in their cost of living and socioeconomic disparity.
First, Washington, Dc and Rome are rich in world and national history. The history in the two cities developed on very different time lines Rome, for example, has a history that dates back to the time of early 8th century BC. Rome was part of the Roman Empire and known by the Latin name called the Imperium Romanum. According to what I seen when I visited the two cities is the residents of Washington, DC and Rome are predominantly wealthy, but they both have a considerably large amount of poor and homeless people. Also, a most significant difference between the resident demographics is the ethnicity makeup that make up the two cities. For example, Washington, DC, has the majority of its citizens than are non-white such as African American, and Hispanic and Native American. In latest US Census, 49.1 percent of DC residents were classified as “Black or African American” and 40 percent of its residents were classified as “white.
