Compare And Contrast Public Health And Healthcare Delivery Systems

Public health and healthcare delivery systems complement and compete with each other in many ways. The main manner in which they complement each other is that they both have an end goal in mind of improving health in its entirety. They both implement education and community programs as well as attempt to develop policies and plans with either the individual or community in mind. Although they work together with the same end goals, they also compete against each other through their own personal agendas. As stated above, some organizations focus their efforts on the individual while others may concentrate solely on the population. This can complicate the advancements in public health as there is no unified effort. James 1:27 states "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."[2] When I initially read this verse, my mind immediately began to think of third world countries and the situations I have witnessed with my own eyes. As I began to compare the scripture to our public health system, I realized that we often miss what is right in front of us because we allow outside factors to distract us from our overall goal of providing proper care for each other.
