Throughout the history of the United States, several Popes have visited. Out of all these visits, Pope Francis' was the most like Pope John II's visit. While they were in America they did many of the same things. For example, both Popes went to New York and Washington, D.C. Although both papal visits to the U.S. were similar, they were a bit different from one another. When Pope John Paul II came to the United States he went to Alaska, Boston, Chicago, and Miami. In contrast, Pope Francis only went to New York, Philadelphia, and Washington.
While in the U.S. Pope John Paul II wanted meet the president and visit many cities. He was able to meet Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton. Also, he visited cities other than New York and
