INTRODUCTION:
Richard Ramirez was an American serial killer, rapist, and burglar dubbed as the “Night Stalker” before his identity was exposed. He was an nocturnal and aggressive criminal who was very brutal, broke into homes of people during night times. He mainly made women his victims to whom he attacked ferociously and raped and murdered them. Richard was the youngest among his seven siblings. Ramirez had a troubled childhood and he came in with company of his cousin Mike, U.S Army Green Beret combat veteran who was elder to him and who had sadistic nature. As a teenager his cousin fascinated the thoughts of Richard by telling him about naked women and also killing and raping women during the Vietnamese War. And Richard was also present when Mike murdered his wife on 05/04/1973.This sadistic nature of his cousin had a bad effect on Ramirez which made him to follow his cousin’s footsteps later to commit series of similar crimes for continuous two …show more content…
His case had its set of delays as the Richard himself pleaded innocence which made the court’s work difficult. It took almost a year to select the jury members and to hear the case. The huge number of evidence and witnesses made it more difficult. Although his psychology towards the survived victims and the families of victims was also an evidence the trial couldn’t start at one go. His behavior towards them such as pointing, giggling and laughing was enough to prove his guilt. First adjournment was due to Los Angeles police, which made a mistake during the lineup identification because the news of Richard being recently beaten up by the mobs was spread around by the media and, therefore, it was easy to identify him, as he was the only one hurt in the lineup
