Macbeth Ambition is often seen as one of the best characteristic to posses, but Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” tells a different story. Written for James I in 1611, Macbeth has been praised as one of English literature’s greatest achievements. People to this day still enjoy it so much that countless directors have attempted to bring the age-old play into modern times. Unfortunately, in a play as prestigious as Macbeth, there isn’t a middle ground between hitting a home-run or striking out. Through special effects, acting, and time periods, it becomes apparent that Patrick Stewart’s adaptation hit a home-run while Michael Bogdanov’s struck out. Patrick Stewart’s version of Macbeth often uses lighting and camera angles to expresses importance or symbolism.
