Compare And Contrast Online Learning

Decent Essays
There are several differences between learning in a traditional classroom from learning in an online setting. Online learning has made it easier and convenient to pursue your degree. The main difference for me has been the ability to be at home and not have to drive to a campus, I can simply set up class in the comfort of my own home. The ability to do school at home also saves me time, time of having to get ready, getting in my car driving and attending a class. Also, money that would be spent on fueling my vehicle, I imagine having to drive at least 1 hour worth of driving per day to get to the nearest college campus from my home, this would require fueling and maintaining a vehicle that could be costly. A skill that I will need to develop which is one that I feel that I need the most help in is the skill of “time management”. Online learning has been a great way to earn a degree, the ability to have flexibility with time is a big plus, on the downside if you are not careful, getting your work done on time could be a challenge. With flexibility comes the opportunity for procrastination(a skill that I have honed pretty well) unlike the traditional way of learning where you have to show up to class and do the work or potentially fail. Another skill that I need to develop is the skill of being patient in learning, I tend to rush through things just to get it done, I patience and putting in quality time to studying is one that I could develop and be better at.

I plan on bringing skills to my academic journey that will benefit me. Skills such as being analytical when it comes to problem solving. This will benefit me in writing out my answers, being able to analyze and apply critical thinking. I also tend to remember things by association, I feel as though I remember things in picture form, sort of like taking a snapshot photo to remember tasks. Some other basic skills are typing and basic computer skills will also be used throughout my academic

It is important to develop skills that will not only improve your life but also your college life experience. Upon looking at the General Education Competencies that appears on the class syllabus, I decided on which skills are most important to develop in my humble opinion. One skill for example, that I find particularly essential is the ability to research and examine information, resources, and evidence that are both for academic use and those that are not necessarily for academic use. My reasoning is that, being able to have evidential support to what you are stating is critical since what you say typically follows you for the rest of your life.…

These skills are critical to my development as a scientist, and in particular as someone wanting to join the ranks of academia. The process in obtaining a doctoral degree will allow me to achieve such goals through the development of my own research program. Such a program, for example, would offer the experiences of preparing a proposal, potentially writing grants, executing field or lab studies, and finally writing a possible scientific contribution in the form of a publication. This is one of many reasons why graduate school would serve me well, as it offers the resources to mold myself into a qualified academic and…

This provides for a dynamic learning experience and enhances the acquisition of knowledge. However, this relationship is seemingly not evident in the online learning model because there is an absence of the physical aspect of both teachers and students needed to cultivate a dynamic learning relationship. Another difference between online and classroom learning is the type of resources available to students. Classroom learning is different from online learning in this respect because it provides the students with more resources; it allows students to essentially participate in club activities, extracurricular activities such as gyms and sport, etc. In contrast, the mere fact that online learning provides for a less expansive dynamism provides for the restriction of such…
