Similarities Between Old Boy And American History X

Old boy, The fighter and American history x are three movies that have nothing in common at first glance. My thinking of movies that are similar are rush hour and ShowTime because they’re both movies about two cops, one serious and the other a comedian, taking on the entire city. My definition of similar movies is that similar movies are substitutes, a hotdog can be substituted by a burger, an apple by an orange, etc. Old boy, The fighter and American history x are like compliments. For Example, a hot dog is incomplete without a bun. The fighter is about boxing brothers trying to fulfil their potential and American history x is a movie about a Nazi inspired racist that is at the core of the start and end of racism among his people. Old boy is a movie about a man who leaps in terror at the sight of his own reflection; having sex with your daughter can do that to a man. The way in which these three movies have in common are strong characters not so much from a moral stand point but strong characters nonetheless. These three …show more content…
For example, the first lesson you learn in a world history class is about Hitler’s Nazi, to the point of if you don’t know Hitler like you know a relative, your history teacher has failed you. Examples of Nazi incorporation are displayed by scenes like when Danny titiled his paper after hitler’s Mein Kampf and the prominent Nazi symbol on Derek’s chest left chest, to almost symbolize that Nazi is in heart or close to his hear. Thus, the placement of the tattoo is very clever and fitting. The main character’s development from the first half to the second half of the movie was a complete 180, to the point of him not being recognized and that’s exactly what happened. Derek’s evolution was so extreme that it was almost hard to accept, but it makes you realize people do change, especially if they’re placed in a life altering

According to "Getting Under Their Skin" by Scott Kraft, Enrique Gonzalez and his friend Travis Gorman were tattooing Gonzalez 7 year old son. The insignia was a gang related tattoo of a dog paw print of a well-known gang called bulldogs from Fresno. The mother of the boy later then saw the tattoo and right away called the authorities and that lead up to the two men's arrests and were charged with aggravated mayhem which meant getting a life sentence. The jury later found the men not guilty of the charge, and ended with a hung jury on the rest of the minor charges. The men accepted a plea deal to the charge of corporal injury to the child.…

Adam Sandler has been making people laugh since 1983, and America has been free from an imperial power since 1776. These two events may be decades apart, yet they are more similar than most people think. More specifically, Sandler’s character, Happy Gilmore, is much like the American Revolution. Both are an underdog who beat the odds and won. America beat England and Happy beat the pro golfers.…

Introduction These movies are in stark contrast to each other but have one thing in common both look at men who are in a foreign place trying to survive and perhaps flourish. Each man is literally a man without a country. These movies look at their struggle or journey to get what they really want. Along the way they both find that the ones they love are the important thing not necessarily the journey they taken to discover that. These movies show the constant battle of trying to do what they need to do to thrive and barriers being in front of them that they must overcome to reach their goals.…

#Pemble 1 Choosing two different pieces of entertainment to compare and contrast stood out to me as a writer to create a fun and new writing experience for not only myself but to create a literary inspiration to bring these two together. Both pieces have symbolic examples, and multiple characters that stood out, but the father figures in Fences the play, and the film Smoke Signals defined what to do and not to do as a father. Both delivered an unconditional love, whether it was from a distance but one father was in the picture entirely and the other left his son at a young age. The rolls played between Arnold and Troy are more different then they are alike, although they are both fathers and each son shows the same amount of love. Victor’s…

"No Country For Old Men" and "Back to The Future 3" I personally think that the movies "No Country For Old Men" and "Back to The Future 3" have many similarities. On the other hand, they also have quite a few differences. For example, they both represent a change in time, the main characters go through a dramatic life changing moment, finally, they both have to do right morally and ethically. Some differences are, corruption was involved in one of the movies and not the other, one movie shows justice or a higher law and, the final difference is, the power located within the movies. The first main theme in both of these movies is, they both represent changing in times.…

Again, the viewer chose the theme “Power of Tradition” to match the story and movie. The theme matches well to both the story and movie because as the viewer could see, both stories were showing how tradition can make us do things, and we think it’s OK to do them. But when we follow tradition, we do things as in killing,or persecute, things we care about. The viewer thought the movie was better because the movie showed more emotion and it was easier to tell what was going on. Apparently, the movie was able to be seen visually, so that helps with understanding what is going on too.…

Those are also some examples of each sub-genre within action films. Both, horror films and action films may have their differences, but they also have some similarities. They both could possibly include some sort of violence and/or gore scenes. For example, Halloween and Lethal Weapon have several scenes in the film where there are extreme violence. They also could both be similar by some of the characters in the film having some type of special powers or special abilities that allows them to be more mindful.…

Since the beginning of filmmaking, many film analysists have developed numerous theories that consist of a films overall structuralism; with each one being utilished as a storytelling method. As a result, I am going to analyse and discuss the narrative structure of the dramatic crime film, American History X; as throughout the film, they have included several attributes from a number of narrative theories that are encoded within its narrative structure. Structuralism: AMERICAN HISTORY X From analysis, the basic structuralism in American History X supports Syd Fields theory of the 'Three Act Structure'; as each of the films Three Acts help to serve a relevance and purpose to the build of the films narrative.…

It was his 19th birthday and our hero Scott wanted a tattoo. Not just any tattoo, however, he wanted a tattoo that was as different from other tattoos then he was different from other people. On the way to Skatler Ink on the South side of town, Scott still couldn’t think of a tattoo so perfectly original and different. It was a windy day and Scott’s loose grip on his cash inevitably ended up with the wind snatching up his money and running it down the street like a touchdown pass. He followed it down a dark alley that came to a sketchy, vandalized, brick-wall dead end.…
