The Thirteen Steps to Success.
Benjamin Franklin is a very popular image of early American history. Franklin had many successes; a politician, an inventor and a newspaper printer. All of these helped to develop the new America. I interpreted this in two ways, being clean is also a direct representation of who you are, but cleanliness can also be a mental thing. It is important to look clean and put together, especially for Franklin because he was a political figure, a beacon of the United States. If he was disgusting and dirty, people would perceive the U.S. to be that way as well. Everyone has a name, something or someone that they represent, it is important to present it well. As far as mental cleanliness, it means you are having pure thoughts, your mind is open to new ideas and perspectives. As a teenage girl, I don’t go through the same trials as Benjamin Franklin, but both he and I have something in common; when we keep our minds open and clean we can both attain success. I know that I need to keep an open mind in order to get along with others. The final virtue that really stood out was humility. Humility is to imitate Jesus and Socrates. According to the Bible, Jesus was the only perfect person to live on the earth. Jesus was the perfect example; by having humility and following Jesus’s example we can strive for perfection. By following Christ’s example we are literally trying to become perfect. Having humility is so important, because when we have humility we are in a sense humble. We do not boast or have excessive pride. By having humility we can become more successful
