Compare & Contrast Essay Have you ever read the book Baseball In April ? It’s a book with a series of short stories in it. This will be doing a compare and contrast with two of those stories. They are Broken Chain and No-guitar blues. The two stories have some similarities and differences. In Broken chain Fonso looks for a better appearance and love. In No-guitar blues Alfonso looks for a guitar but in progress he makes a mistake and he ends up regretting it all.
No-guitar blues and broken chain are similar because of the content and characters. These are the similarities. They both want something they don’t have. Theses are some quotes that support my similarity. “Broken Chain” “cuts” (Broken Chain 1). In this story cuts mean abs and he wants something he doesn’t have. In No-Guitar blues he says “I want a guitar for christmas”(No-Guitar Blues) shows he wants something he doesn’t have. He also get a reply which was no so he ask again saying “ how ‘bout for my birthday next year”. These quotes are similar because they want something they don't have. They are different because they wanted different things. These are some quotes to support my difference. “I can’t take that” meaning the money that the thankful pet owners offered. He started feeling guilty and regret. That's the reasoning behind that quote. In Broken Chain his conflict starts with his brother trying to protect him. Now in this quote it's more of a conversation so many quotes for this one. “Ponytails! Those girls who messed with Frosty and me had pony tails. Is she cool?” “I think so.” “That must be her.” at this point he thinks his brother is jealous. Now they are in a quarrel. In No-Guitar Blues Alfonso says “Oh man i shouldn't have lied” as in he shouldn't have lied about the dog and that shows another sign of
