The two pieces of literature I will discuss is “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe and “My Lost Youth” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. In my opinion Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “The Raven” is better work because he was one of the first authors to do horror in American literature. We’ve heard the literature about love, happiness, and blissful endings, but Poe morphed his own literary genre. Countless amounts of Poe’s stories and poems are written in first point-of-view and the narrator is almost always deceitful. In such a way it makes Poe’s stories come across as spine-chilling and mysterious, but also sinister due to a creepy narrator.
