I admire Alexey Kim for the same reasons as Jordan, Ali, and Federer. Alexey Kim is a third generation Korean who was raised in Moscow, Russia. At the age of four, his Grandfather, Nikolay Kim, schooled him in the wonders of chess. Right off the bat, Alexey was a star- he won the Moscow Junior Chess Championship at the age of 11, and only improved from there. Admittedly, Alexey Kim didn’t always bring Korea glory.. He came up short on multiple occasions, but in every match, he lost with grace. He chose to fight until the end, remaining calm and composed even in the face of obvious defeat- something that I consider hugely respectable. I can attribute many of my defining qualities to Alexey Kim. In light of Alexey obeying his grandfather’s wishes, I always do my best to obey my parents- whether it’s me taking out the trash or to going to SAT 학원.
