Compare And Contrast Motocross And Supercross

Improved Essays
Getting the holeshot. Crossing the line before all of the others. Nothing feels better than getting the trophy while all of the people that you just beat watch you from below. Out of all of the sports that the United States continues to boast and celebrate annually, Motocross and Supercross are both one of the sports that sadly are overlooked the most. One of the reasons for this is that MotoX and SuperX riders don't get paid as much as the famous Ball players. Their salary isn't based on them just showing up, but they actually have to win races to get the big checks. Also unlike ball players, if they do win, the paycheck still isn't astronomical, like in the NFL and NBA. Even though it isn't the most recognized, Motocross and Supercross are …show more content…
Supercross is the more popular of the two and is more commonly watched among most Americans. Instead of being played outside, Supercross is played in an indoor arena kind of like a football stadium but much smaller. The arena usually have a roof so that the track will not get ruined if the weather turns. Much like Motocross, Supercross also scores the riders on a system of points for their placement in the race, and the amount of points that they make for the placements is the exact same. The only difference is that with motocross there is more laps, allowing for more overall points, and the fact that the races are much shorter than motocross races, only being about 15 minutes long compared to Motocross’ races which can last up to 40 minutes for one race. Supercross is also where the people who win make a lot more money than if they were in motocross. On average, they make 3x more than people who are in motocross, and over a year of making more money, that can lead to a lot more money than you'd think. Fittingly, Supercross is also a lot more expensive to keep up than the likes of Motocross. There are multiple reasons for this. First off, there are a lot more collisions in SuperX because of how close people are to each other during the entirety of the race. Along with that, they are going alot faster and alot harder than the racers in the opposite sport. There motorcycles are also basically totally rebuilt after every single race to make sure that the engines and the racers are racing to the best of their abilities and leading to the best possible outcome for all of the races. With every person getting a new engine after every race, each bike being anywhere from 10-30 thousand dollars, multiply that by all of the racers, and there is a major amount of money being thrown into the arena every weekend. Both sports are expensive the run, but considering how much NFL and NBA get paid for throwing and making a ball

Rubin and Shapiro’s inspiring documentary, Murderball, associates with the notion of “masculinity” as expressed in Cynthia Barounis’ “Crippling Heterosexuality” by zeroing in on the combative habits of a quad rugby player, the essence of the sport, and the relationships of the players with their significant others. Murderball illustrates the game previously known as “Murderball,” now referred to as wheel chair rugby, and the experiences of Team U.S.A. and Team Canada to the 2004 Paralympics. It can be discussed that the reason for creating this documentary was to reveal the amount of rivalry that occurs between people with disabilities or how their lives have been changed from having to be in a wheelchair. As we watch the film, the continued theme of the movie is that if you believe in…
