The character twist in the two stories can be established by comparing two great characters, Miss Brill and Emily Grierson. The most significant difference was noted in the solitude life of the two characters. Emily Grierson’s father kept her confined in their house throughout her life. Even after her death, Emily Grierson still remained in the state of solitude. These two characters lacked a well established prosanic relationship. Although their public and involvement in the social circle differed, they both were lonely. Brill's Sundays are spent watching people as a counter measure for the unexcited life that she lives. It was, however, very disappointing when the people did not speak.
