Geographically, Massachusetts Bay Colony had a finer location than Virginia Colony. Virginia Colony decided to settle at a place beside a river that had barely any trees and decided to name the city James Town, after their king’s name. Unfortunately, they did not question themselves why trees do not grow. The reason was because due to being too close to a river, the mud was too mushy, which it very hard for trees to grow. This led to failure in agriculture. Although they successfully grew tobacco, they could not grow any edible vegetation, forcing them to trade frequently with the natives. It is important to note that most of Virginia Colony’s mistakes were from lack of thinking through. If they thought over their location, their colony, and how their relationship with aboriginals was going to affect their life as colonists, they might not have lost nearly as many men as they did, thus being known as a colony that succeeded more than what we seem them
