Valenzuela’s “The Censors” tells about how the government took away freedom of speech. King's statement persuades the African Americans to keep standing up. He also states, “There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until Negro is granted his citizenship rights”(49). All African Americans yearned for freedom, they were not taught to use violence to get their equal rights.
“Persepolis 2” by Marjane Satrapi is based on women demanding their rights by doing little rebellious acts like letting a piece of hair to be seen, or wearing a little makeup. For example, “Showing your wrist, a loud laugh, having a Walkman”(84). Women purposely stood out and rebelled against the laws because that was their way of demanding their freedom.
