Martha Rogers and Daniel Goleman There are many different types of theorists with different concepts for nursing and non-nursing. Nursing theories are to aid in nursing profession by enhancing their practices. Non-nursing theories can be applied to many fields that also include nursing. Comparing nursing theories and non-nursing theories can help determine their use in the nursing profession. This paper will analyze, compare ,and contrast Martha Rogers science of unitary human beings theory and Daniel Goleman’s emotional intelligence theory.

The conceptual Science of Unitary Human Beings model provides an incentive and direction for scientific motion (Alligood, 2014). Per Fawcett (2015), the Science of Unitary Human Beings based basic research to develop new theoretical information about unitary human energy fields in mutual response with the environmental energy fields. A diversity of qualitive and quantitative research studies are appropriate for Science of Unitary Human Beings based research (Fawcett, 2015). Quantitative and qualitative methods have been used in the Science of Unitary Human Beings research, though not all researchers approve that both are appropriate (Alligood, 2014). The theory is very clear, simple, and straightforward. The correlation between person, nurse, and environment is very evident in the Science of Unitary Human Beings Theory. Per Fawcett (2015), the development of the Science of Unitary human beings theoryis a never-ending process and has continuously gained material since it was first …show more content…
The theory focuses on people’s well-being and their mental health. It also focuses on the environment such as a learning environment. Per Riyadi (2016), Emotional intelligence is applied through Islamic religious education in high school and the implementation of the emotional intelligence allows the students to be successful by having emotional health and being able to manage their emotions. Goleman (2006), “In 1995 I outlined the preliminary evidence suggesting social and emotional learning (SEL) was the active ingredient in programs that enhance children’s learning while preventing problems such as violence” (pg. xi). Emotional intelligence theory has been implemented in elementary schools yielding data that states the theory boosts academic achievement (Goleman, 1996). Emotional intelligence theory has been researched by businesses such as leadership and employee development providing positive outcomes (Goleman, 1996). The Emotional intelligence theory is very simple and clear. Emotional intelligence can be applied to nursing because in nursing self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills are needed. Applying this theory to nursing appears beneficial, because all the concepts presented are needed to care for
