Compare And Contrast Macduff And Lady Macbeth

To take Shakespeare’s speech and place it into a World War II setting is really impressive. However, when the dialogue doesn’t match the setting and the actions taking place, it makes it very hard for the person watching it to put it all together. The Patrick Stewart version of Macbeth also inserted a lot of details that weren’t in the actual play. Lady Macbeth never actually washed her hands and certainly didn’t do it with some type of burning liquid. The use of somewhat modern technology was a huge difference but it didn’t affect the fight scene between Macbeth and Macduff. Both men still used swords against each other and Macduff took Macbeths head off with a dagger. When Macbeth said his most famous speech to his dead wife’s body most people watching it were confused because that is not how it is portrayed in the book. The 3 most important figures of the play weren’t even themselves! They were doctors who appeared in way more scenes than they were supposed to. All in all, the Patrick Stewart version did show Macbeth but just in a different way.

This was not the case. Lady Macbeth appeared again after her sleepwalking incident and there was about 6-7 witches at one time on stage interacting with Macbeth. Reading the play, you would know that Lady Macbeth is not brought up until the mention of her death or seen after Act 5, Scene I. You would also know that there are only 3 witches and they most certainly don’t react with Macbeth in front of Macduff. Since everything was on one stage and the backdrop was the same, we didn’t get to see Malcolm’s army “moving the forest.” Macbeth walked around with a limp and that was never mentioned in the actual play. In conclusion, this version had more difference than similarities compared to the actual
