Macbeth vs. Batman Macbeth is a play that was written in the 1600s about a Scottish general that tried to take over a country. Batman was a comic that was made in the 1930s that had a very popular movie series come out in the 2000s. Now, you might say “how is it possible for a trilogy of movies in the 2000s to be compared to a poem that was written in the 1600s?” Many of the characters are very similar in their actions of how they try to take control of a country or city. Another similarity they have is the elements in the play and movies are both dark and violent. A third similarity is the plot, with both stories ending with hope.
There is one main character each in the

Just like Macbeth did not want to kill King Duncan. Lady Macbeth tested his manhood to get him to kill the King. The same way Batman’s manhood is tested. Batman is tested by Bane, The Joker, and many other characters. Batman is known for not killing any of his enemies and so he has many opportunities to end their lives but, he is a better man than that so he has to decide to kill them or let them go. Batman almost gives in to The Joker at one point when he tries to get Batman to quit being Batman. He then goes to talk to Alfred ,his butler, and he says “well today I found out what Batman can’t do”. Which means that he was giving into the Joker testing his manhood. Another similarity in the characters is Macbeth has two sides to him. One side is the Macbeth that kills people and the other is the Macbeth that is a local person that people can look up to. The Dark Knight is also Bruce Wayne who is a billionaire that owns Wayne Tower in downtown Gotham. He hides from people but when he is seen in public he is old and washed up with bruises and people don’t really look up to him since they do not know who he really is. Who he really is, is Batman who saves them from the crime that the streets of Gotham …show more content…
They also have a little bit of the same plot line. The stories end with both of the main characters dying. Macbeth is killed by Macduff, who learns Macbeth’s plan to kill people to get to the throne. That is when Malcolm ,who is Duncan’s son, comes home to take the throne and leaves the city in very good hands. While Batman does not die a villain, he dies a hero. Bane sets a bomb off and Batman is able to attach it to his plane and fly it out to sea where it implodes with Batman carrying it over the city to save the lives of many people in Gotham. With the city’s hero dying it has a new hero that you are introduced to late in the trilogy and that is John Blake who is a police officer that helps The Dark Knight get the people to safety. The movie appears to have John Blake resign from the police force and changes his name to Robin and finds Batman’s cave. With that it seems to give the viewers a feeling that he will begin to fight crime in the city as Batman did. The two stories end with a death but a sense that the communities are left in good hands.
Now it’s crazy to think that these two separate stories that were written in two completely different time periods could compare at all to each other. They do in many ways. When you look at the characters you see that Macbeth and Batman were both told what they could become. One listened and was patient and the other took what he

In order to save the "dying" city of Gotham from the criminal underworld, poverty, and corruption within the police department, Bruce returns to the root of all his misery as a changed man; the identity of Batman was established to prevent anyone else from experiencing the pain and suffering he had endured as a child while the normal Bruce Wayne returns to his "throne" at Wayne Enterprises in order to gain the funding needed for new technology such as the bat-mobile and upgrading the suit as well as using his influence to support individuals such as Harvey Dent who had gained the title of the "White Knight" due to being able to achieve justice during the day without a mask. Despite his vigilantly approach towards establishing law and order, Batman is able to maintain his sanity by acknowledging a specific honor code that prevents him from using deadly force or resorting to killing criminals such as the Joker despite his ruthless and unpredictable nature to harm others for his own enjoyment. What makes Batman an ideal hero is his heart and courage because he refuses to be thanked or acknowledged for his role in justice. As a result, Bruce Wayne actually tries to distant himself from the caped crusader by essentially hiding in pain site and acting like the cocky "Billionaire Playboy" who…

Between films and books, it is often seen how different the films tend to be in comparison with the real book story. In the play Macbeth, written by Shakespeare, and the 2015 movie of Macbeth, directed by Justin Kurzel, there are major differences seen. Although the film and the play share many similarities, the changes in the plot that occur during the movie change the flow and results of the situations occurring within the play. In the movie, Justin Kurzel takes away the psychological power Lady Macbeth has over different events, gives a different view of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, and the plot twist caused by Malcolm’s actions. Macbeth the film and Macbeth the play, show how a movie can differ from the actual message and mood the original author is in reality giving.…

The play The Canterbury Tales was written during the Middle Ages time period while the play The Tragedy of Macbeth was written during the Renaissance period. Both these plays have multiple similarities and differences, with their theme, symbol, and characteristic traits. The Canterbury Tales, specifically the Pardoner’s Tale talked about how money is the root to all-evil and how money could make someone make drastic choices like murder. And The Tragedy of Macbeth talks more on how greed could change someone. A similarity would be how both main characters like the three young boys from The Canterbury Tales, the Pardoner’s Tale and Macbeth from The Tragedy of Macbeth chooses fame and fortune over friendship and loyalty.…

“Macbeth” is a Historically well known and famous work by William Shakespeare. It was written in time much different than today when life was completely different and seemingly had no comparisons to today’s time. However, I believe that Macbeth can be related closer to today’s time than people might realize. Lady Macbeth (Macbeth’s wife) in the play seems to replicate a psychopathic nutcase that in no way resembles anyway in modern society. However, She in many ways resembles a modern day college football coach and when you discuss college football coaches you have to the talk about the most successful college football coach of all time (in terms of wins and National Championships) Nick Saban.…

Light versus dark, Denmark and Norway, Memory and the Past, are examples how an author may compare and contrast situations that may be important to the meaning and understanding of their novels. Besides those meanings, corruption is also a very important theme within these novels too. It shows and explains that a certain act can happen in real life. The three novels; Heart of Darkness (HOD), Hamlet, and 1984, all portray this idea.…
