Compare And Contrast Lowe's Vs Big Lots

Improved Essays
Since I’ve been shopping for furniture in the past few weeks, I decided to select for this project two of the many stores I have visited so far, Lowe’s and Big Lots. To me, it seems like fan acquisition is not the first priority for Lowe’s. To find the links to social networking sites in the Lowe’s website, you have to scroll down all the way. In the section “Get Connected” you will find the icons to Lowe’s Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and Instagram sites. On the other hand, as soon as you enter the Big Lots website, a pop-up window displays asking you to enter your e-mail address to win $5 dollars off on your $15 dollars purchase. By doing that users will receive weekly special discounts, free rewards, access to shopping events, and more. Also they display the links to all their social networking sites in both, at the top of the page and at the bottom as well. …show more content…
I did notice that the Lowe’s website allows customers to provide ratings and reviews, whereas Big Lots did not. Also Lowe’s posts on its Facebook page pictures of their products and a lot of mini short videos of people working on home improvement. I think it’s pretty effective. I watched a couple of those videos myself and seeing regular people working on making their houses look more beautiful, made me feel like those were simple things that even I could do on my own. Those pictures and videos had thousands of “Views” and feedback, way more than those content shared in the Big Lots Facebook

I was attracted to a Lowes marketing campaign delivered through their website, a form of digital media marketing. Home Depot Vs Lowes

In today's current Do-It-Yourself market, Home Depot is still leading over Lowes because of the online market push Home Depot has in place. A quick view of their online website shows how Home Depot appeals to the female audience, something marketing wise Lowes have yet to figure out. Or maybe, it is too late for Lowes to push the appeal of their store prices, products, and service to the female consumer. Home Depot has even went that extra mile of redesigning its stores to appeal more to women as part of their marketing strategy. The push toward women was subtle but powerful with commercials advertising paint and women doing the painting.…

The two essays I chose to compare and contrast are Sam Walton/Jay Z and Serving in Florida. The purpose of the authors is to inform the audience about how the character of these to essays Sam Walton/Jay Z and Serving in Florida succeed staring from nothing and their evolution throughout their life, in a legal or illegal way of obtaining money. In the story of Sam Walton, he started from nothing and kept growing due of his ambition of progressing, he was a very cheap man, didn’t care much about fancy stuff. I think it’s very interesting how he manages his life style, humble and hard worker, always thinking with a big picture for his and his family future. Which is very similar to Barbara in the Serving America story.…
