The primary enemy of the lion is the spotted hyena. Lions have the advantage with their size, but hyenas do quite a bit of damage and cause plenty of mayhem during a battle. The other enemy of the lion is rival lion prides. Neither the other packs of lions or dholes, another enemy, are very forgiving when it comes to outsiders trespassing in their territory. Fortunately, a pride of lions doesn't have any substantial enemies other than these two. Unlike the two enemies of the lions, the tiger has multiple enemies. They include big buffalos, elephants, and bears. Another foe of the tiger, as mentioned previously, is the Asiatic wild dog, also known as a dhole. Dholes hunt in packs so they can harass or attack the tiger while it roams around all alone. A single dhole would never stand a chance against a tiger. Even when they attack in packs, one or two of the pack members will be likely to die in a battle with a tiger. Consequently, dholes usually won't initiate an attack. If they do, the tiger can often just run up a tree to escape, something dholes are unable to
