I am going to compare William Bell, a paramedic, and Tim Betita, a doctor of dental surgery and medical doctor. I’m going to compare them because both of their presentations were pretty interesting. Both of the jobs also seem to be fun and are often jobs thought of when thinking about the medical industry. I’m going to start with comparing the differences between the two. A paramedic takes about two years of schooling after high school and normally have an associate's degree, while a medical doctor needs to have a medical degree and takes about 15 years of schooling after high school.…
The novel, The Other Wes Moore, by Wes Moore tells the story of two boys that have the same name: Wes Moore. Both boys grew up in struggling families and rough neighborhoods, but somehow their lives turn out to be completely opposite. One is serving a life sentence in jail while the other became a bestselling author. Some people believe the reason their lives turned out so different was because Wes Moore (the author) had more opportunities and his family had more privileges than the other Wes Moore.…
The picture showed the two strong and different generals. They both brought the Civil War to a virtual finish, but they represented two different in American life. Lee embodied the noblest aspect of aristocrat. He stands straight and confident in the picture. His uniform looks nice and clean.…
Bradstreet Vs Edwards Puritanism - The beliefs or principles of a group of English Protestants of the late 16th and 17th centuries who regarded the Reformation of the Church under Elizabeth I as incomplete and sought to simplify and regulate forms of worship. (Puritanism) Puritans did everything in their lives in the name of God, so there was seldom a need to do anything that wasn’t absolutely necessary such as writing. Because Puritanism limited the amount of Purist authors, our knowledge of how the religion works is limited as well. Thankfully there were people like Anne Bradstreet and Jonathan Edwards who wrote to glorify God. Anne Bradstreet’s writing consisted of personal thoughts and experiences, some of these writings being “To My Dear and Loving Husband,” and “Upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666.”…
Wes Moore is the name of two boys living in Baltimore in the same neighborhood and age, but two different paths in their life. Life was difficult for them growing up without a father so they looked up to see in that limited world and follow the only models available" (Moore 178). Both Wes and Wes were lacking in their school having bad grades and a hard time fitting in. One day the other Wes Moore had a fight in football and after being punched, he runs and gets his knife following the words of Tony which were “rule number one: If someone disrespects you, you send a message so fierce that they won‘t have the chance to do it again” (Moore 33). As Wes took his knife running to the boy the police tackle him to the ground and took him to jail and…
Roosevelt and Lindbergh’s views were on opposite end of the debate. Kennedy views were more in the middle. Lindbergh was very short sighted. He failed to see that eventually the U.S. would have to face Hitler’s war machine and the axis powers were gaining strength with each passing day. They gained labor and resources as they conquered new territory.…
In This Fleeting World, author David Christian attempts to cover world history in a mere 120 pages. David divides his book into three periods: the era of foragers, the agrarian era, and the modern era. Within these periods he describes the various lifestyles our ancestors lived in, the advancements achieved, and what ultimately brought upon the succeeding era. In essence, David Christian goal in writing his novel is to filter out the unnecessary jargon in world history and convey a more concise history of humanity (p. XVII). Therefore, I believe David Christian has succeeded his goal of constructing a persuasive argument backed with solid evidence.…
Even though we consider ourselves to be a highly advanced society today, I don’t think I can say that we are the better society. What this book has made me realize is that there is never a right way to structure your society that is better than all other societies. Every society is unique and has its share of benefits and drawbacks, including our own. Agrarian societies have complex ecological systems that utilize every last resource. Native American societies only took what they needed from the land to preserve nature as much as possible.…
Anne Bradstreet and Phillis Wheatley are some of the most known poets around the world. But back in the 1600’s they weren’t considered a poet, let alone a contributor to society. But both of these women became a powerful threat to the men once they both became educated and had an interest in poetry. Bradstreet was a white Puritan who related greek beliefs to her lifestyle and human society as a whole. Wheatley was an African American poet who was a slave, but she wasn’t like the others, she was educated.…

Booker T. Washington and W. E. B DuBois used different strategies when dealing with the problems faced by African Americans at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Segregation was a big problem during this time and African Americans were the ones facing the brunt of this issue. Both Washington and DuBois tried to fight for equality of African Americans and were in hopes that their actions, as well as programs, would help aid society toward agreeing with them. Washington was more about trying to gradually institute equality whereas DuBois took a more immediate approach. Even though Washington and DuBois took on different views, it can be agreed that both men took important steps to improve equality for African Americans…
Evolution is the theory used to describe exactly why life on earth changes the way it does. It is evident that all things change throughout time, but understanding the reason behind these changes can be infuriating. In Evolution for Everyone, David Sloane Wilson bonds the basic concepts of evolutionary theory with different disciplines such as: art, religion, language, and pro-social behaviors. Wilson establishes a unity between the evolutionary theory and the development of culture, language, art, and other disciplines. Wilson describes the basics of evolutionary theory for the readers who may not be well acquainted with it.…
Diamond and Kincaid are quick to criticize the activities of humans but the authors fail to see that progress betters the future and is not without temporary setbacks which are eventually solved later on. Many of these so called “problems” are only short term and should not take away from how far we have progressed in the area of food production which tremendously helped mankind. As humans, we are imperfect creatures and this quality transcends everything we accomplish. Learning from the past is important because it enables us to improve upon our successes and prevent problems from arising. As far as food production and exploration are concerned, these are aspects of life that improved upon the past by solving problems in the present.…
The most two influential black nationalist I chose two write about in this research paper emphasis the importance to embrace black race and culture to support economic and self- determination for the black community. Both Marcus Garvey and W.E.B DuBois although opposed each other ideology of improving black social progress had a similar goal to encourage African worldwide to unite for economic, social, and political progress. W.E.B DuBois was an editor, novelist, civil rights leader and socialist. He was a black intellectual who enforced the importance of education among the black community. He had an interest in social science, not only did he concentrated on race relations but he conducted observations and research on the conditions of…
